I’ve had people ask my opinion of how the National Anthem should be performed. Although I believe in Artistic expression, I feel that the fans as well as the players want to be a part of the moment with the performer. There is room for stylistic interpretation of the song but I feel it’s important not to alter the melody. Runs are great as long as they are not sung on every line. A beautiful voice with soul and passion on the natural melody of the National Anthem leaves me speechless every time.
